Artist's Description

This watercolor painting is based on a Congress Avenue bronze statue commemorating Angelina Eberly firing a cannon in 1842 to warn the locals of the theft of papers certifying Austin as the capital of Texas. This brave librarian and a group that followed the thieves were successful in getting the papers back from Sam Houston’s soldiers. This painting was primarily poured paint on the paper. Notice the street signage of the Paramount and State theaters in the background.
